… Keeping Australian industry competitive in a global market

Why FIELD Engineers

FIELD Engineers was an early adopter of laser scanning and of developing specialised in-house measuring systems to support our core engineering work. Our long track record of laser scanning, strain gauging and heavy load weighing offers key advantages when working with us.

3D laser scanning & tracking

Our high-definition surveys capture structures and plant as they exist for conversion into models or drawings. Complex structures can be captured accurately and quickly where manual measurements would be slow or impossible.

We have instruments suitable to whatever survey is required, including laser tracker systems that are ideal for precision measurement (±15 μm, or 0.015mm) up to a range of 160 m.

Our fully qualified technicians have scanned and documented hundreds of projects, with the data then applied to models, designs, drawing and site alignments of critical components.

Strain gauging

The FIELD strain gauging team have refined their skills over years of collecting data from draglines, ship loaders, cranes and concrete structures such as bridges and culverts, providing the engineering team with real-life data for analysis.

High accuracy strain gauge data can be taken in both static and dynamic environments using our state-of-the-art, non-destructive and non-invasive hardware. We can use this data for:

Heavy load weighing

FIELD’s in-house developed heavy weighing kit has been used to find the mass and centre of gravity (CoG) of many different structures and objects, including a 1250 t ship loader and a 400 t platform structure to be mounted on an LNG tank.

The heavy weighing kit is modular, so it can be expanded to suit any size structure, providing precise mass and CoG data. This allows for:

We can also work with briefs of evidence where the site no longer exists, and review (or recommend) specialist laboratory testing. Call us to discuss, however much information is available.
